Recreationcenter Mijnden is situated in the Vecht- and Lakearea. This area is known for the Loosdrechtse plassen, the river Vecht, meadows and other unique estates.
The Loosdrechtse Plassen where formed by extracting the peat from the Bogland area.
Characteristic are the beautiful pastures in-between the waterlilys and thatch-clump overgrown moats. The lakes offer all opportunities for watersports; from swimming, sailing to waterskiing. For the tourist who wants tranquillity some nature reserves can only be reached by canoe or rowboat.
The romantic Vecht with her majestic outhouses and castles make up a beautiful decorum for boat trips and bicycle rides. The castle Zuylen, the Muiderslot, the castle Nijenrode, the castletown of Oud-Zuilen, the idyllic townships of the Vecht, a small selection of attractions in the surrounding area.
Between Amsterdam and Utrecht
Mijnden is situated near the towns of Amsterdam and Utrecht. A visit to these towns with their beautiful town centre and famous canals can be realised with ease. You can also enjoy the many other attractions that both cities' offer.
The heathmoor- and forest area of “Het Gooi” are within cycling distance of Mijnden.
“Het Gooi” is a nature lover's paradise of lakes, pastures and moorland in-between heathmoor, farmland and woodland areas.
